How can learning be fun without diluting the academic content?

The facilitators in Alif, has revitalized their passion for teaching as they inculcate in children, their love and passion for learning. Students here are engaged purposefully and intensely. It is described as ” playing into” their learning. The output of students has been remarkable as they are provided with authentic real life situations to understand multi-disciplinary concepts. The child learns faster and comprehends difficult academic concepts with remarkable ease and confidence as the process is natural, individualistic, stress-free, scientifically planned, reviewed and executed. With reference to Blooms taxonomy, they are able to reach the higher level of analysis and synthesis. We emphasis a constructivist or discovery model of learning, in which play is central to the child as a concrete, sensorial explorer and learner on the basis of Montessori approach.

  1. Teaching learning in Alif

In Alif, there are no teachers, but only facilitators. We are not simply teaching students to achieve a particular exam result; we are teaching them for life according to shariaah. We recognize that education is incomplete if we do not enable the children who enter our school and graduate from it to have faith in the Creator, dream big and work hard to realize those dreams. Those dreams are not limited to this world alone. Surely Allah have given potential to every single Individual and we have a duty to protect them and provide them with every opportunity to learn and to realize their potential, but this does not prevent them from discovering things for themselves; not simply to learn but also to make choices, identify their own goals and better understand-and to strictly adhere to the sunnah and also to be optimistic however adverse the situation is.

We teach our students; failure is not a negative term. But it is a term which should be a stepping stone to success.
